Kate Corbett Winder is inspired by the landscape of the Welsh borders where she lives.
Her paintings do not set out to be precise representations but are expressions of the changing rhythm and colour of the landscape. She draws outside using charcoal, pencil and pastel, then paints back in the studio in oils, sometimes adding collage to introduce blocks of flat colour or newsprint to a composition. She also paints still life and the flowers from her garden.
Her first solo exhibition in 2009 was at the Sladmore Contemporary, London ; a second solo exhibition at Jonathan Clark Fine Art in July 2016 and a third show of Garden Paintings with Jonathan Clark in 2019 at Green & Stone Gallery, London SW3.
Her two most recent shows have been at Long & Ryle ; Close to Home in 2021 was a collection of landscape, garden and still life paintings made in Wales during lock down . Her last exhibition Colour Field, was in February 2023 .
Kate Corbett-Winder is now represented by Browse & Darby, 34 Bury Street ,London W1.
